The Greensburg junior high track and field teams ran with Jennings County and both teams came back victorious.
“It was the last home meet of the season and it was filled with excitement! exclaimed coach Sue Burkart. Three track records were broken, replacing some outstanding athletes from the past. In the pole vault, Kirstin Hersley improved her record from last year from 6-06 to 7-0. Haleigh Reed broke a record that had not been beaten since 1995, by Natasha Jones with 5:39.4. Burkart said Reed’s new record was an impressive 5:32.86.
Greg Schroeder had a new record of 2:11.8, replacing Chris Hagerty’s from 1998 with 2:12.8.
The girls’ team was undefeated with a 5-0 record and the boys’ team was 4-1. Both teams had three meets rained out this year that they could not make up.
Girls’ Varsity results
On the girls’ side, Greensburg started competing and never looked back, beating Jennings County 86-27.
“The team has been so self-motivated this year and they continue to improve,” said Burkhart. They swept five events - 1600m, 800m, shot put, discus, pole vault.
In the hurdles, 1. Bailey Meyer 17.60 and 2. Rylie Smith 17.72; 100m 3. Valerie Busto 13.65, 1600, and 800m Haleigh Reed came in first in both with 5:32.86 and 2:35.6, respectively. Cameron Jones came in second place in both 1600 and 800m with 5:55.30 and 2:41.9. Morgan Winkler came in third in the 1600m and 800m 6:01.26 and 2:44.7. Rylie Smith came in first with 13-05 in the long jump and Valerie Busto second with 12-07.

For the relays, 4x200 relay: Rylie Smith, Ashlynn Meyer, Bailey Meyer, and Ashley Bower with 2:00.61. The 4x400 relay was won with 4:35.20 team of Ashlynn Meyer, Cameron Jones, Bailey Meyer and Haleigh Reed.

Boys Varsity results
The boys had a terrific night, according to coach Sue Burkhart, with many athletes setting their personal best. The team score was 66-48. Greensburg was definitely strong in the field events winning sweeps in pole vault, high and long jump and shot put. The running events came thru and captured important points for the win.
Hurdles, Dylan Barber :19.15. 100m Ares Merritt :12.07, Greg Schroeder won both 1600m and 800m with 5:05.5 and 2:11.8 respectively. Reid McClintic captured 3rd in both 1600m and 800m with 5:23.8 and 2:28.4. High Jump 1. Luke Lozier with 5-01. 2. Dylan Barber 4-10, 3. Louis Moore 4-10. Dylan Barber placed second 58.37 in the 400. 200m, 3. Jadrian Woods, 25.87.
