Pirate harriers split dual

Shelbyville — The Greensburg cross country teams split a dual meet at Shelbyville Tuesday.

The host Golden Bears won the boys’ competition 20-40, while the Lady Pirates prevailed in the girls’ meet 19-44.

Shelby Pake won her fourth race of the season in a time of 20:30. Senior Ericka Carman led a pack of six harriers to take third place in 23:45.

Erin Hamilton was 4th in 23:49 while Mary Kate Porter placed 5th in 24:26. Senior Tori Helms finished 6th overall in 24:38, with senior Melissa Brickett next in a time of 25:23. Cierra Luers took 8th in 25:40, and Alli Duerstock was 12th place overall in 28:42.

In the boys’ race, Bryce Nystrom ran a season-best to earn third with a time of 17:58. Senior Colin Evans was 5th in a time of 18:15. Peyton Buening placed 9th in 19:06, and teammate Michael Back crossed the finish line in 20:11 to take 13th. Ben Newhart was next for Greensburg in 16th with a time of 21:54. Clayton Moore was the 19th to finish in 33:03.
