Lady Pirates catch season awards

Greensburg — The Lady Pirates wrapped up the 2013 season on June 13 with its awards banquet, at the Greensburg City Park.

The varsity Lady Pirates finished 19-9 on the season and a second place finish in the EIAC conference. The 2013 team set many individual and team records. The highlight of the season was the 8-1 victory over East Central in St. Leon, the first time that the varsity has beaten the Trojans since before 2007.

“The seniors will be missed,” said head coach Jake Shook, “but we are looking to carry the successful season into the 2014 season with a great group of underclassmen.”

Freshman Britney Biltz (All-Conference, highest batting average, .562; 9 home runs, 6 doubles, 12 triples, 55 RBI’s) and 2013 Team MVP);

Freshman Allie Geis (JV batting average winner, .478);

Senior Audrey Geis (All-Conference, ICGSA All-District, and Mental Attitude);

Senior Clare Owens (All-Conference);

Freshman Whitney Tallent (Varsity Most Improved);

Senior Kayanna Wolter (ICGSA Academic All-State).
