Greensburg Sectional 29:  Greensburg (21-1) vs Madison (11-10)

South Ripley Sectional 45:  North Decatur (6-16) at Switzerland County (17-4)

South Decatur Sectional 60:  Jac-Cen-Del (7-15) at South Decatur (15-6)



South JH girls split in MHC

The South Decatur junior high girls basketball teams competed in the Mid-Hoosier Conference tournament at South Decatur.

The seventh graders defeated Edinburgh 31-24.

Claire Wullenweber led her team in scoring with nine points. She added one rebound, three steals and one assist.

Full South scoring:  Taylor Best-5 points, 1 rebound, 10 steals and 3 assists; Madison Green-5 points, 3 steals and 1 assist; Zoey Nobbe-4 points; Brooke Owens-4 points, 5 rebounds, 6 steals and 1 assist; Samanatha Barkus-2 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 assist; Kinsey Sample-2 points.

The eighth grade Lady Cougars fell to Eastern Hancock 54-41. Stacy Fox lead the Cougars with 20 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal and 2 assists. Brooke Helms followed with 14 points, four rebounds, three steals and three assists.

Full South scoring:  Delanie Diekhoff-2 points, 3 rebounds, Sierra Deppe-2 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 steal; Mackenzie Kopplin-2 points and 2 rebounds; and Hannah Smith-1 point and 3 rebounds.

Eastern Hancock is undefeated for the season, but the Lady Cougars played hard and never gave up and fought hard to the end of the game,” said coach Lisa Huff. “We had a good season and the girls are a great group of girls to coach.”

The 8th grade Lady Cougars ended the season 7-4.



DCGSA signups start today

The Decatur County Girls Softball sign-ups will take place every Saturday in the month of March, beginning today.

DCGSA is taking registrations for slow pitch & fast pitch softball on March 2, March 9, March 16 and March 23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Armory (Park and Rec building).

GYBL signups underway

Signups are set for the Greensburg Youth Baseball League. Signups will last through March 23 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The league will conduct signups on Tuesdays, beginning Feb. 26 through March 19 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Signups will take place at the Decatur County Parks Department. Registrations are availabe at signup or at the Parks Department.



Columbus Explosion tryouts next week

Columbus Explosion will be having try-outs for girls high school and boys ninth grade basketball travel teams on Tuesday and Thursday, March 5 and 7, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Northside Middle School, Columbus, Ind.
