The North Decatur varsity baseball team hosted South Ripley for a Saturday morning game that tested those intolerant of cold weather.
South Ripley beat the Chargers 5-0 in a game with temperatures barely above the freezing mark and a biting wind chill.
North was limited to two base hits, which were delivered off the bats of sophomore Seth Gauck and freshman Donovan Meyer.
On the bright side, senior Jason Kirchhoff gave up just three hits in his start. Kirchhoff threw just 78 pitches.
“Kirchhoff pitched a really good game,” said head coach Gary Brown. “He really pitched well. If we could just get all facets of our team going at once, we could be a competitive team.”
North is now 0-4 on the season and travels to Lawrenceburg today (Tuesday) for a 5 p.m. game. The Chargers are scheduled to host Oldenburg Academy Wednesday at 5 p.m.
