Batesville —

The top-ranked Greensburg boys basketball team fell at Batesville 72-65, ending the Pirates' 31-game regular-season winning streak.

The visiting Pirates had beaten Batesville 10 of the past 11 times, including 10 in the regular season.

Greensburg fell to 11-1 overall and 5-1 in the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference. Batesville is now 9-1 overall and 5-1 in the EIAC.

Bulldog Sophomore Bryan Hoeing scored a career-high 42 points, including 18 in the fourth quarter. He single-handedly outscored Greensburg 13-12 in the first quarter. The visitors actually led 8-2 to start the game. After Batesville pulled ahead 11-9 six minutes into the game, neither team led by more than three points the rest of the half.

Junior Macy Holdsworth's 3-pointer tied the game at 17-all for Greensburg with 3:21 left in the first half. Junior Sean Sellers then converted a 3-point play, making it 20-17. Batesville tied it with a Wesley McKinney triple, but senior Tyler Burcham hit a tough acrobatic floater that made it 22-20 with 1:20 left. However, Bryan Hoeing's free throws tied it back at 22-all at the half.

The Pirates limited Hoeing to four points in the second quarter and seven in the third, lifting themselves on top with a pair of triples by junior Collin Rigney. Greensburg led 42-41 after three quarters.

Hoeing, though, had a fourth quarter to remember. He went to the foul line five times, hitting 10-for-10 in the final quarter alone and scoring 18 overall. Batesville took control 50-45 with 5:33 to go.

Sellers scored eight of his own and McIntosh hit a pair of treys, but it was not enough in the 31-23 Hoeing-dominated period.

Sophomore Ryan Welage and Sellers each led Greensburg with 19 points. McIntosh added 13, including a 3-pointer that brought it to within 63-57 with just under a minute left.
