Shelbyville — South Decatur junior Taylor Kopplin pitched a perfect game Monday in a 16-0 win over host Southwestern-Shelby.

Kopplin struck out 12 of the minimum 15 batters he faced.

The Cougars tallied 13 hits and played error-free ball.

South scored three runs in the first inning, five in the second, two more in the third and six in the fourth to put the game away.

“That’s a great accomplishment for Taylor Kopplin,” said South head coach Andy Seegers of Kopplin’s perfect game.

South improves to 6-5 overall and 4-0 in the Mid-Hoosier Conference.

South fell to Brownstown Central Friday, 5-2.

The Cougars jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second, but the Braves scored one in the bottom of the frame and tied it in the second. The Braves capped their scoring with two in the fifth.

South senior Taylor Campos suffered the loss on the mound.

The Cougars tallied 10 hits and committed two errors, while the Braves recorded seven hits and one error.
