Pirate linksters win EIAC title

West Harrison — The Greensburg varsity golf team came away with the conference championship Saturday at Grand Oak Country Club.

Greensburg scored a 338 on the Par 72 course. Batesville followed with a 347.

“We’ve done a lot of growing this year as a young team, and I was ecstatic to see it culminate into a conference championship,” said head coach Bryce Mize. “Our guys played great - especially on a tough, wet golf course. I’m just thrilled.

Batesville followed with a 347, and Franklin County took third with a score of 354. South Dearborn (383), East Central (404), and Lawrenceburg (463) rounded out the scoring.

Franklin County’s Dylan Huber tallied the low individual score and conference championship with a 7-over 79.

Three Pirate linksters earned All-EIAC status, including senior Tyler Reiger, Sam Marsh and Keegan McCullough. Reiger narrowly missed top honors with an 8-over 80, which was good for second overall.

“Tyler really got things going on the back nine, where he posted an even-par 36,” said Mize. “I was happy to see him finish with a score that I’ve known he’s long been capable of putting up.”

Marsh (82) and McCullough (85) joined Reiger as All-Conference golfers.

“Sam was Sam,” said Mize. “He was solid all day long, allowing him to post a great score as well. Like Tyler, Keegan was able to really get things going on the back nine. For all three of these guys to make the All-EIAC team was a big accomplishment.”

Greensburg scoring: Maverick Jones (91) and Reid Domingo (91) rounded out Greensburg’s scoring.

“Reid and Maverick weren’t far behind them either, each missing the top 10 by two strokes,” said Mize. “Like I’ve said before, we’re really starting to come together recently, and I hope the trend continues as we head toward the end of the season and into the postseason.”

Greensburg next hosts Franklin County and Triton Central Thursday at 5 p.m.
