North linksters beat new MHC rival

— The North Decatur boys golf team recorded a dual meet win against Eastern Hancock Tuesday night.

The Chargers beat the Royals 169-189 on the Front Nine, Par 36, at Horseshoe Bend Golf Course.

North senior Thomas Shobe was the meet medalist with a 38. Senior Charles Murray carded a 32, while freshman Dayne Lecher carded a 43. Senior Nick Stewart shot a 46 and Trevor Crites 53.

Head coach Dan Borns was pleased with the Chargers’ win against a new conference rival.

“This was our first trip to play Eastern Hancock, who is a new MHC team this season,” said Borns. “We enjoyed the course and came away with a road victory.”

Eastern Hancock scores:  Clay Roland 47; Caleb Wallen 45; Nelson Dulin 47; Cole Allen 53; Matt Wilson 50.

The North junior varsity team beat Eastern Hancock 196-233. David Bokelman and Arek Holloway each tallied a 47 to lead all golfers.

Other North scores: Blake Fehrman 50; Brian Williamson 52; Zach Johnson 53; Brennan Coy 55.

North improves its varsity record to 10-5 on the season.
