The South Decatur varsity baseball team ran its Mid-Hoosier Conference record to 5-0 Monday night with a 7-1 win over Hauser.
The Cougars remained undefeated in the MHC by plating runs in the first four innings, including two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth.
Junior Taylor Kopplin posted the winning decision on the mound. Hauser tallied six hits and committed two errors.
South needed just four hits to defeat the Jets. Drew Taylor highlighted the offense with a two-run double in the sixth inning.
The Jets scored their lone run in the seventh frame.
South improves to 9-6 overall and 5-0 in the MHC. The Cougars visit Eastern Hancock Wednesday, then visit Edinburgh Saturday for two conference games.
South JV beats OA 9-2
The South junior varsity baseball team defeated Oldenburg Academy 9-2.
The Twisters scored two runs in the top of the first inning, but the Cougars secured the victory with a six-run fourth. South scored a run in each of the final two innings.
Austin Petro recorded the winning decision for South, which made just one error.
Tyler Hahn and Aaron Haley posted a double apiece for extra-base hits, with South totaling seven hits.
The win improved South’s JV record to 2-1.
