Pirate JH XC girls win invite

The Greensburg girls junior high cross country team was crowned the South Dearborn Invitational Champions Monday night in Aurora.

The Lady Pirates scored only 40 points to Batesville’s 60, Ryle’s 66, Sunman Dearborn’s 95, South Dearborn’s 149, Switzerland County’s 167, Benjamin Rush’s 168, and Milan’s 209. Ryle’s Katelyn Nichols individually won the event in 11:45.

Four Greensburg girls were medalists for the evening. Morgan Winkler, Cameron Jones, Cathy Newhart, and Alexis Bidwell finished in the top 10 in a field of 108 competitors. Alaina Nobbe earned a ribbon for her 17th place finish.

Girls results: 3. Winkler 12:22; 4. Jones 12:25; 6. Newhart 12:38; 10. Bidwell 13:00; 17. Nobbe 13:25; 24. Ellie Acra 13:45; 29. Bailey Menkedick 13:55.

Pirate JV girls run well

The JV girls also ran great races. Koregan Kidd, Alexis Wilson, Sonya Bate, Miranda Brandes, and Addison Asher all ran new personal best times of the season.

Asher improved the most by dropping 56 seconds from her previous PR.
