The Greensburg football team hosted Batesville in an Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference showdown in front of packed bleachers Friday night.
The visiting state-ranked Bulldogs spoiled Greensburg’s Homecoming Night, bumping themselves to 7-0 with a 42-14 win.
Greensburg enjoyed a 14-7 lead after falling behind 7-0 early in the first quarter.
Blake Wood and Trent Black each scored first-half touchdowns for the Pirates, who went into halftime trailing 21-14.
Batesville scored 35 unanswered points to claim the outright EIAC conference title in Class 3A.
The Pirate defense played for pride in the fourth quarter as Greensburg senior Devin Workman recovered a Batesville fumble to stop a threat.
Greensburg is now 4-3 overall and 0-3 in the EIAC.
