IU releases details on sexual assault

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) – Police confirmed the assault on an IU Bloomington student early Tuesday morning was sexual in nature.

According to the IU Police Department, the victim was walking from the Herman B. Wells Library back to her dorm room just after 2 a.m. when the suspect grabbed her and displayed a pocket knife.

IUPD Lt. Craig Monroe said the suspect then forced the victim to touch him.

The victim was able to run away from the suspect.

IU Police searched for the suspect, but did not find anyone.

Police are looking for a white male, 18 to 21-years-old, 5 feet 10 inches tall with a muscular build.

Lt. Andy Stevenson says IUPD officers will have a higher presence in the area Tuesday and that a notification has been sent to students and parents at IU Bloomington.
