Monday
The Alzheimer’s Association offers support groups for caregivers of persons with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias. Participants in support groups receive emotional support, practical assistance in coping with the issues they face, and the latest information about research. All meetings are confidential and free of charge. The caregiver support group meetings in Greensburg are held on the 2nd Monday of every month at 4 p.m. at the Greensburg Library, 1110 East Main Street. The New Point Community Center will open its doors to walkers who want to escape the harsh winter weather. Walking hours will be from 6-7 p.m. on Monday’s and Thursdays. The public is welcome.
The Mental Health Support Group meets at 7 p.m. the last Monday of each month in the conference room of the Decatur County Memorial Hospital. They invite everyone suffering from mental illness or caring for a family member with mental illness to attend. All meetings are held strictly confidential. New Point Community Senior Club meets every fourth Tuesday at the New Point Community Senior Center at 6 p.m.

Lap sit classes will be held at the Greensburg Public Library on Tuesday mornings from 9:10-9:30 a.m. Lap sit is open to parents and their baby 6-17 months of age.
The Human Services Inc. Board of Directors meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 12 p.m. The meetings are held at the Human Services Inc. main office located at 1585 Indianapolis Road, Columbus and are open to the general public. The Human Services Inc. is a community action, not-for-profit organization that provides programs for low income, at-risk individuals and families living in the counties of Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Jackson, Johnson and Shelby. These programs include Head Start pre-school, Section 8 housing voucher, Energy assistance, Food pantry, Child Care voucher, WIC, Weatherization and a Housing Re-hab. The Napoleon Senior Club will meet on the first Tuesday of each month at the Napoleon Senior Center at 6 p.m. All seniors are welcome.

The Tree County Players will meet on the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the TCP Office.

The Westport Branch Library will have storytime every Tuesday from 10:30 - 11 a.m. Storytime is for children ages 3 - 6. We read stories to the children and they make a small craft to take home.

The Greensburg Public Library will be hosting an open scrapbooking night on the third Thursday of every month from 6 - 8 p.m. in the meeting room. Only the room will be provided. You will need to bring your own supplies, tools, snaks, drinks, etc. No registration is required.

Al-Anon meets every Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church basement, 202 North Franklin Street. Use the Washington Street entrance.

"An Evening in Paris" is the AFTER 5 CLUB February, 14 theme. A collection of original fashions will be modeled by some of the most recognized runway stars. Emily Oesterling, a local Greensburg High School sophomore, will be the evening's vocalist. Ann Ulmer will speak on "Lessons in Life - Learning What Matters Most and How to Achieve It." She is a former business woman and a Registered Nurse. The dinner program will be held on Thursday, February 14 from 6:30 - 8 p.m. at Mulligan's Grille, Greensburg Country Club, 1630 W. Park Rd. Reservations are due by February 11. Call Thelma at 222-5242. Reservations must be honored, canceled or used by a friend. Child care provided by reservation. All area ladies are invited to this enjoyable event.
St. Peters U.C.C., Finks Road, Osgood will have their first coffee social of the year with soup and sandwiches. They will serve six different soups, desserts and drinks on February 21 from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. Free will offering. Carrout availiable.
Westport Kiwanis will be a meeting every Thursday at the Community Building at 6:30 p.m. We will be working on community projects.

The Columbus Regional Hospital is offering Women’s Heart Check Screening on February 15 and will include a blood pressure check, cholesterol test, body mass index, fasting blood sugar and a heart risk assesment. Screenings are available by appointment only and a small fee will apply. You can call-1-800-541-2600 to make an appointment.

There will be a fish fry on February 22 from 5 - 8 p.m. at the new Millhousen Fire Station on 250 East, North edge of town. Breaded tenderloin and All-you-can-Whitefish, french fries, applesauce, baked beans and drinks will be served. Adults are $8 and under 10 is $3. Carryouts avalaible.

The American Legion Ladies Auxillary will host a Taco NIght from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Legion Post. A dance will follow.
The New Point Kiwanis Chili Supper will be on Sat. Feb 23 from 4:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the New Point Community Center. All-you-can-eat chili, hot dog or coney dog, dessert and drink will be served. A fee of $5 for adults and $4 for kids 12 and under. A raffle will be held at 7 p.m.
St. Maurice Church Chili & Chicken Noodle Soup Supper. There will be a chili and chicken noodle soup supper on Saturday, Feb. 23 from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM at St. Maurice's Church Hall, St. Maurice (Decatur County).
On March 1 at 2:00 pm, the Decatur County Family YMCA will be presenting a Women's Self Defense Workshop.  One in six women in the United States are victims of sexual assaults.  Come and learn how you can avoid dangerous situations and what to do if you are attacked.  Our instructors will have hands on demonstrations that will show you the techniques to stay safe. The first 50 Women will receive a FREE purse size pepper spray.  This workshop is sponsored by the Decatur County Community Foundation
The Greensburg Public Library will have coffee tasting with Starbucks Coffee on Saturday, March 8 at 2 p.m. Sample coffees and pastries and learn the history of one of Greensburg’s newest businesses. This is a free program. Please register at the library’s adult circulation deak or call 663 - 2826.
Sunday
The Decatur County Parks and Recreation Department is offering open gym at the GCHS Fieldhouse on Sundays from 2 - 9 p.m. The Fieldhouse will be open, free of charge, for basketball, volleyball, and walking. For more information contact the Parks Department at 663-8284.

Decatur County Human Services, Inc. administers the Child Care Voucher Program for Decatur County. This program provides services through licensed providers for parents seeking quality child care. Currently there is a very small waiting list.  To apply for this program come to Human Services with your most recent pay stub or current school schedule. You will be asked to fill out an application and provide some general information.  Our child care providers are licensed thru the SIEOC.  Anyone wanting to become a licensed provider may also contact Human Services at 1939 N. If your child enjoys listening to stories, singing, dancing and making crafts, you should stop by the Children’s Room at the Greensburg Library to sign up for Story Time. Every Tuesday and Thursday there will be a bike ride at 6 p.m. - weather permitting. The place to meet is at the gazebo on the courthouse square and will either be 5 or 25 miles and returning to town. All riders are welcome. They will be set up for both beginner and experienced riders. Youth riders must be accompanied by an adult.Ride leaders may not always be present, but routes will be marked and maps will be available. Helmets are strongly recommended.
