This listing is intended for use by those groups providing a community service in Decatur County that is open to all. Monday
The Alzheimer’s Association offers support groups for caregivers of persons with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias. Participants in support groups receive emotional support, practical assistance in coping with the issues they face, and the latest information about research. All meetings are confidential and free of charge. The caregiver support group meetings in Greensburg are held on the 2nd Monday of every month at 4:00 p.m. at the Greensburg Library, 1110 East Main Street. There will be a Fair Board meeting on August 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the large meeting room at the Extension Office. If you have any questions or if you are unable to attend please call 663-8388.
The Mental Health Support Group meets at 7 p.m. the last Monday of each month in the conference room of the Decatur County Memorial Hospital. They invite everyone suffering from mental illness or caring for a family member with mental illness to attend. All meetings are held strictly confidential. Tuesday
New Point Community Senior Club meets every fourth Tuesday at the New Point Community Senior Center at 6 p.m.
Women’s Bible Study will be at the YMCA every Tuesday from 9 - 10 a.m. All ladies of all ages are welcome. For more information please call 812-663-3531.
Every other Tuesday the Cub Scout Pack led by Becky Ogle meets from 6 - 7:30 p.m. at the Baptist Youth Camp.
Co-ed 55+ Bible study and fellowship at the YMCA conference room on Tuesdays from 10:30-11:45 a.m. For information, contact Connie McCracken at 663-3531.
Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) weight loss support group meets every Tuesday at the First Christian Church in Greensburg. Weigh-in is from 5-5:30 p.m. Meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. For more information please call 812-663-3763 or 812-663-5623.
New Point Kiwanis meets the first and third Tuesday of every month at 6:15 p.m. in the New Point Community Center.
Lap sit classes will be held at the Greensburg Public Library on Tuesday mornings from 9:10-9:30 a.m. Lap sit is open to parents and their baby 6-17 months of age.
The Human Services Inc. Board of Directors meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 12 p.m. The meetings are held at the Human Services Inc. main office located at 1585 Indianapolis Road, Columbus, Indiana and are open to the general public. The Human Services Inc. is a community action, not-for-profit organization that provides programs for low income, at-risk individuals and families living in the counties of Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Jackson, Johnson and Shelby. These programs include Head Start pre-school, Section 8 housing voucher, Energy assistance, Food pantry, Child Care voucher, WIC, Weatherization and a Housing Re-hab. The Napoleon Senior Club will meet on the first Tuesday of each month at the Napoleon Senior Center at 6 p.m. All seniors are welcome.

The Westport Branch Library will have storytime on every Tuesday from 10:30 - 11 a.m. Storytime is for children ages 3 to 6. We read stories to the children and they make a small craft to take home.

Wednesday

There will be an eight week program called “Parenting Wisely” beginning on August 22 and will meet every Wednesday through October 10 from 4 - 5:15 p.m. at the Courthouse on the second floor. There will be a fee of $10 for all eight sessions. For more information please call Deb Cruser at 593-1777. Each session includes down to earth, specific tools that are proven to improve family communitcation, reduce conflict and arguing and increase parent supervision and monitoring.
There will be a blood drive on September 5 at the Knights of Columbus Hall from 12 - 5:30 p.m.
Al-Anon meets every Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church basement, 202 North Franklin Street. Use the Washington Street entrance.
Thursday
The Optimist Club meets every Thursday at 6:30 a.m. at Somethin’s Perkin.
Westport Kiwanis will be a meeting every Thursday at the Community Building at 6:30 p.m. We will be working on community projects.
Lake Santee Kiwanis meets on the first and third Thursday of every month at the community building at 6:15 p.m.

The Greensburg Jaycees board of directors meets the 4th Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Decatur County YMCA. If you are interested in joining or for questions please call Matt Miller at 663-2656.
Modern Trends Extension Homemaker Club is hosting a tour on Thursday, Sept. 13. Meet at 9:15 AM at extension office, movie at Wolf Theatre at 10 AM, noon lunch at High Point Orchard. Go to either The Last Supper Museum or County Historical Museum in afternoon. Cost is $18. Send check payable to Decatur County Extension Homemakers by Sept. 1 to Janet Bedel, 7875 E Co. Rd. 200 N, Greensburg. Limited to 50, and must have 35 to have tour.   Guests are welcome. Transportation is on your own.
The Greensburg Kiwanis Club meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on South U.S. 421. Guests always welcome.

There will be a Golf Outing sponsored by Stone’s Restraunt on Sunday, August 26 at 1 p.m. at Wyloosing Creek. All proceeds will go to Big Brothers Big Sisters. There will be a small cost to play. Ongoing
The Newpoint Christian Church, on State Highway 46, is expanding it's services to the community by offering a preschool in the new building.  Enrollment is ongoing at the Sonshine Christian Preschool. We accept children ages 3-5 yrs. old and school begins Sept. 5 and ends May 21.
Decatur County Human Services, Inc. administers the Child Care Voucher Program for Decatur County.  This program provides services through licensed providers for parents seeking quality child care.  Currently there is a very small waiting list.  To apply for this program come to Human Services with your most recent pay stub or current school schedule.  You will be asked to fill out an application and provide some general information.  Our child care providers are licensed thru the SIEOC.  Anyone wanting to become a licensed provider may also contact Human Services at 1939 N. The Meals and Better Living Senior Nutrition Program of Aging and Community Services is offering gift certificates that can be used to purchase hot and nutritious meals for homebound persons. For more information please contact Shelia Woods at 372-6918 or toll free at 1-866-644-6407.
If your child enjoys listening to stories, singing, dancing and making crafts, you should stop by the Children’s Room at the Greensburg Library to sign up for Story Time. It is open to children ages 3 - 6 years of age. Classes are available Mon. and Thurs evenings and Tues and Wed mornings. Nutritional meals are served everyday at 11:30 a.m. Monday - Friday at the St. Paul Civic Center, 120 E. Washington St., St Paul. If you are 60 years of age or older, join us for fun and fellowship. You may contact Trudy Lewis at 765-525-6306. The Civic Center is open from 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Donate Once a Year Campaign for the Greensburg Community Bread of Life: Sign up to Donate just once a year to help feed the hungry in Greensburg. You will find the donation schedule under the heading Donate/once a year/donation schedule. Food and basic supplies are listed, all under $20-$30. Every Tuesday and Thursday there will be a bike ride at 6 p.m. - weather permitting. The place to meet is at the gazebo on the courthouse square and will either be 5 or 25 miles and returning to town. All riders are welcome. They will be set up for both beginner and experienced riders. Youth riders must be accompanied by an adult.Ride leaders may not always be present, but routes will be marked and maps will be available. Helmets are strongly recommended.
