Monday
The Alzheimer’s Association offers support groups for caregivers of persons with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias. Participants in support groups receive emotional support, practical assistance in coping with the issues they face, and the latest information about research. All meetings are confidential and free of charge. The caregiver support group meetings in Greensburg are held on the 2nd Monday of every month at 4:00 p.m. at the Greensburg Library, 1110 East Main Street. The Greensburg Public Library will have Make your teacher a gift craft for grades 1 and up on December 17 at 6 p.m. Call 812-663-2826 for registration.
Monthly meeting of the Decatur County Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors will be held December 17. Business meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the USDA Conference Room located at 1333 N. Liberty Circle East, Greensburg.
The New Point Community Center will open its doors to walkers who want to escape the harsh winter weather. Walking hours will be from 6-7 p.m. on Monday’s and Thursdays. The public is welcome.
The Mental Health Support Group meets at 7 p.m. the last Monday of each month in the conference room of the Decatur County Memorial Hospital. They invite everyone suffering from mental illness or caring for a family member with mental illness to attend. All meetings are held strictly confidential. Tuesday
New Point Community Senior Club meets every fourth Tuesday at the New Point Community Senior Center at 6 p.m.
The St. Paul Town Council will hold a public meeting on January 8 at 7 p.m. at the St. Paul Civic Center, 102 East Washington Street, St. Paul. instead of January 1 due to the holiday.
“Companions in Weight Loss” will be meeting every Tuesday at September Place at the Ryle Hall from 4 - 5:30 p.m. Both men and women are welcome. For more information call 591-3790 or 527-8001.
The Greensburg Kiwanis Club meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at 6:15 p.m. at Trackside Cafe. Guests are always welcome.

Every other Tuesday the Cub Scout Pack led by Becky Ogle meets from 6 - 7:30 p.m. at the Baptist Youth Camp.

New Point Kiwanis meets the first and third Tuesday of every month at 6:15 p.m. in the New Point Community Center.
Lap sit classes will be held at the Greensburg Public Library on Tuesday mornings from 9:10-9:30 a.m. Lap sit is open to parents and their baby 6-17 months of age.

The Human Services Inc. Board of Directors meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 12 p.m. The meetings are held at the Human Services Inc. main office located at 1585 Indianapolis Road, Columbus and are open to the general public. The Human Services Inc. is a community action, not-for-profit organization that provides programs for low income, at-risk individuals and families living in the counties of Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Jackson, Johnson and Shelby. These programs include Head Start pre-school, Section 8 housing voucher, Energy assistance, Food pantry, Child Care voucher, WIC, Weatherization and a Housing Re-hab. The Napoleon Senior Club will meet on the first Tuesday of each month at the Napoleon Senior Center at 6 p.m. All seniors are welcome.

The Westport Branch Library will have storytime on every Tuesday from 10:30 - 11 a.m. Storytime is for children ages 3 to 6. We read stories to the children and they make a small craft to take home.

Wednesday
The Decatur County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) will meet on December 12 at the Decatur County Memeorial Hospital Board Meeting Room at 12 p.m. This is for the purpose of tabletop exercise of the LEPC plan. All board members are urged to attend and will last approximatelly one hour.
River Valley Resources, Inc. will be offering free career interest assessments to the public on Wednesday, December 19th at 9:30 a.m. Interested participants should arrive 15 minutes early and should plan on the assessments taking about two hours. RSVP by Dec. 14 by calling (812) 663-8597 ext. 27.
Al-Anon meets every Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church basement, 202 North Franklin Street. Use the Washington Street entrance.
Thursday
The Optimist Club meets every Thursday at 6:30 a.m. at Somethin’s Perkin.
The South Decatur Choir will be at the Crownpoint Senior Living Center on December 6 from 10 - 10:30 a.m. Donuts and refreshments will be served and the pubic is invited. For questions call 662-8888.

The Greensburg/Decatur County Animal Control Board will not hold its regularly schedule meeting Thursday, Dec. 13.

Westport Kiwanis will be a meeting every Thursday at the Community Building at 6:30 p.m. We will be working on community projects.
Lake Santee Kiwanis meets on the first and third Thursday of every month at the community building at 6:15 p.m.

Free Flu Shots (Must be 18 years and older) will be available at the Decatur County Health Department on December 7 and 14 from 1:30 - 3 p.m. Future dates will be dependant on vaccine avalablity. Shots are avalable through the generosity of the GECOM Corporation.

Saturday

Decatur County Memorial Hospital will be providing flu vaccines to the public at the Immunization Clinic on Dec. 8 from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. The flu vaccine will cost $25 and MEDICAID and/or MEDICARE will be billed. Call 663-1310 with questions. Registration form available at www.dcmh.net.

Sunday
The Knights of Columbus are having a Breakfast with Santa, Dec. 16, 2007 at the K of C Hall on W. Main St. Breafast will be served from 7:45 until 11 a.m. Santa arrives at 9 a.m. Breakfast is a free will offering.
Everyone is invited to The Historical Society of Decatur County Museum’s Annual Christmas Open House on December 9 from 1-4 p.m. The decorative theme is “I’ll be home for Christmas” with Christmas decorations featuring miniature houses. There will be model trains in the Gallery and an exhibit of children’s clothing through the ages in the Textile Exhibit Room “Baby, It’s Cold Outside”. Seasonal music and refreshments will be available. Everyone is welcome. The exhibits will be on display through December on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays (10 a.m.-2 p.m.); Sundays (1-4 p.m.).
The Greensburg Knights of St. John will have a breakfast with Santa at their hall on South Wilder Street on December 9 and will be serving whole hog sausage, smokies, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, scrambled eggs, pastries, coffee, juice and milk from 7 - 11 a.m. Free will offering. Santa will be there from 9 - 11 a.m.
Ongoing
Decatur County Human Services, Inc. administers the Child Care Voucher Program for Decatur County. This program provides services through licensed providers for parents seeking quality child care. Currently there is a very small waiting list.  To apply for this program come to Human Services with your most recent pay stub or current school schedule. You will be asked to fill out an application and provide some general information.  Our child care providers are licensed thru the SIEOC.  Anyone wanting to become a licensed provider may also contact Human Services at 1939 N. Carver Street Greensburg, Indiana 47240, or call (812)663-8830.  
Beginning Nov. 27, until December 14, Human Services will be opening its waiting list for Section 8 Housing. You may apply at 1939 N. Carver St. Apt. C from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Applicants will need to bring proof of income and residence. The Human Services Food Pantry is open Mondays from 1-3 p.m. and Wednesdays from 9-11 a.m.
Registration is going on now for Positively Preschool at the YMCA. These programs are for children 3 - 5 and their parents. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about art, science and sports through instructor led skill based programs. Scholarships are available. Contact Barry at 663-YMCA for more details.
The Meals and Better Living Senior Nutrition Program of Aging and Community Services is offering gift certificates that can be used to purchase hot and nutritious meals for homebound persons. For more information please contact Shelia Woods at 372-6918 or toll free at 1-866-644-6407.
If your child enjoys listening to stories, singing, dancing and making crafts, you should stop by the Children’s Room at the Greensburg Library to sign up for Story Time. It is open to children ages 3 - 6 years of age. Classes are available Mon. and Thurs evenings and Tues and Wed mornings. Nutritional meals are served everyday at 11:30 a.m. Monday - Friday at the St. Paul Civic Center, 120 E. Washington St., St Paul. If you are 60 years of age or older, join us for fun and fellowship. You may contact Trudy Lewis at 765-525-6306. The Civic Center is open from 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Donate Once a Year Campaign for the Greensburg Community Bread of Life: Sign up to Donate just once a year to help feed the hungry in Greensburg. Go to www.greensburgcommunitybreadoflife.com to sign up the month and the item you wish to donate. You will find the donation schedule under the heading Donate/once a year/donation schedule. Food and basic supplies are listed, all under $20-$30. Every Tuesday and Thursday there will be a bike ride at 6 p.m. - weather permitting. The place to meet is at the gazebo on the courthouse square and will either be 5 or 25 miles and returning to town. All riders are welcome. They will be set up for both beginner and experienced riders. Youth riders must be accompanied by an adult.Ride leaders may not always be present, but routes will be marked and maps will be available. Helmets are strongly recommended.
