United Fund exceeds goal

Greensburg — The Decatur County United Fund is pleased to announce that, thanks to the generosity of Decatur County residents, neighbors, and many companies it has officially exceeded the goal of $330,000 for the 2012 campaign year.

The grand total will be announced at the upcoming annual meeting Jan. 22.

By meeting its target of $330,000+ the United Fund will be providing funding to 21 not-for-profit health and human service agencies in Decatur County in 2013. Those agencies receiving support include:  Advocates for Children (CASA), American Red Cross, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Bread of Life, Carousel Play and Learn Daycare Center, Catch A Ride, Community Healthcare Clinic, Decatur County Youth Baseball and Soccer Club,  2-1-1, Foster Grandparent Program, Girl Scouts, Head Start, Hospice, Human Services, Legal Aid, Meals on Wheels, New Directions and Turning Point Domestic Violence Shelters, St. Paul Senior Center, and the Decatur County Family YMCA.

Campaign Chairs Lizette and Greg Bell have worked tirelessly over the past year to help spread the word of the United Fund’s mission across the county.

“We are very thankful to each and every donor who helped us reach and exceed our goal of $330,000+,” said Lizette Bell. “We obviously couldn’t have done it without their generosity. Thank you for helping the United Fund in its mission to lead the community in developing resources to meet human needs. We are very excited about the upcoming announcement of the grand total at the annual meeting.”

With the logging of the $330,000+ mark, Decatur County becomes just the fourth of the nearly 62 United Funds/Ways across the state to make its goal, “a fact which says a lot about the giving spirits of our community,” United Fund Executive Director Joane Cunningham said.

Anyone still wishing to donate to the United Fund effort may do so by writing the United Fund at 108 S. Broadway, Suite 1, Greensburg.
