“Mind Games” for teens coming to local library

Greensburg — Mentalist Jack Strauss will be featured in a free, teens-only show at the Greensburg-Decatur County Public Library from 1 to 2:30 p.m., June 20.

Teen Librarian Lori Durbin told the Daily News that although Strauss is also a magician, his June 20 show will focus solely on his mentalist act.

When asked precisely what the show entails, Durbin directed the Daily News to Strauss’ website at makekidsread.com.

According to information provided there by Strauss himself, the mentalist show revolves around Extra Sensory Perception (ESP).

“Is ESP real?” Strauss poses. “Is it possible to read thoughts, see with your mind and foretell the future? Professional Mentalist Jack Strauss will explore these questions with us. Prepare to have your minds blown.”

The show, Strauss explains, has been adapted for teens from his “adult mentalism act,” and is geared toward helping “attract teens to the library.”

“He sounded like someone the kids would like,” Durbin said. “But the younger kids will have to stay home. This is a teens-only show.”

Durbin specified that only students from grade 6 to 12 would be admitted.

Plenty of seating yet remains. Durbin prefers attendees reserve a seat in advance, but stressed that advanced registration is by no means required.

“It’s just so much easier for us,” she said, “to know how many are coming.”

To register for the event, visit www.greensburglibrary.org or call the library at 663-2826.
