GREENSBURG – Local authorities were dispatched to the scene of a shooting incident at the Greensburg Community Schools Administration Building Friday afternoon.

According to information provided to the Daily News by Greensburg Police Detective Bill Meyerrose, law enforcement officials arrived shortly after 2:30 p.m. and found one man dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a vehicle outside of the building.

The deceased man was identified as Gary Springmeyer, 55, by Deputy Coroner Mike Gasper Saturday morning, following notification of family members. Springmeyer was a maintenance worker for Greensburg Community Schools.

“We have an employee who is deceased and our hearts, our condolences and prayers go out to Gary and his family,” Greensburg Community Schools Superintendent Tom Hunter said Friday.
