SDHS celebrates prom with fire and ice

GREENSBURG – The students of South Decatur High School celebrated their prom Saturday, dancing the night away to a song of Fire and Ice.

The theme was present everywhere at the banquet hall of the DCCS Corporation building, from the braziers holding (fake) flames to the iridescent icy table decorations.

Students seemed to be having the time of their lives, dressed in their elegant finery and surrounded by their friends. The dance floor was never empty and smiles were seen all around.

The junior prom court consisted of Emilee Compton, Nick Schwering, Breanna Evans, Randall Canady, Olivia Watkins, Brayden Helms, Seth Niese and Anesa Dijab.

Anesa Dijab was crowned prom princess and Seth Niese was prom prince.

The senior prom court included Taylor Vannatta, Andrew Wullenweber, Evan Wiggins, Anna Peters, Austin Petro, Sheyenne Werner, Shelby Payne and Riley Pedigo.

Shelby Payne was crowned prom queen, with Riley Pedigo at her side as prom king.

The evening didn’t end as the prom came to a close at 11 p.m., though. Students attended the after prom at the YMCA, playing games and earning money and prizes until 2:30 a.m.
