When 6-year-old Brookelynn Weber joined her mom at the Hair Factory after kindergarten one day, she surprised her family by hopping into a chair to have her hair cut for Locks of Love.
Her great grandmother Zelma Idlewine had shown her an article in the newspaper about a girl who had cut her hair for the charitable organization.
“I guess she never forgot about it,” she said.
The young girl had hair flowing far down her back, having only had trims but never a real haircut. When she hopped into the salon chair, her family asked her if she wanted her hair cut. Idlewine said she responded “go ahead and cut it for Locks of Love.”
“It was all her idea,” Idlewine said.
Now, Weber intends to keep her hair short. Sometimes, she enjoys curling the ends.
“She is six going on 16, but may have passed that up, too,” Idlewine said.
Weber turned 6 last November and is doing well in kindergarten, her great grandmother noted, going on to say what a sweet and smart little girl she is.
