American Revolution (DAR) choose three outstanding students from
the county’s schools on which to bestow their good citizenship
awards.

Every year, the Decatur County chapter of the Daughters of the

American Revolution (DAR) choose three outstanding students from

the county’s schools on which to bestow their good citizenship

awards.

On Monday night, DAR recognized Greensburg Community High

School senior Cory Parks, North Decatur High School senior C.J.

Adams and South Decatur High School’s Krista Galloway, also a

senior.

Though no one at the event could remember how long the tradition

had lasted, organizer Barbara Welch explained the purpose of the

program to the crowd at the First Christian Church’s Family Life

Center.

“We encourage and reward qualities of good citizenship,” she said.

When choosing the candidates, their histories in the areas of

dependability, service, leadership and patriotism are examined and
