BATESVILLE – A career of success and growth earned a local lumber and hardware leader some exclusive industry recognition earlier this month.
Charlie Gillman, owner of Gillman Do it Best Home Centers, was named a 2019 Top Gun by the North American Retail Hardware Association. For more than a decade, the NRHA has honored industry leaders through its Top Guns program, which recognizes next-generation independent entrepreneurs who continue to grow the legacy of their family businesses.
Gillman was recognized at an event May 8 in Las Vegas as part of the National Hardware Show and is one of only three Top Gun honorees nationwide for 2019.
“It’s an incredible honor to be recognized by the NRHA and among my outstanding peers,” Gillman said. “I always say that this is what I was born to do because I truly believe it - it’s been so rewarding to grow this company and share in its success with our awesome team of employees.”
Today, 35 years after the first location opened its doors, Gillman Home Centers is an aggressively growing full-service hardware and lumber operation with 12 locations in southeastern Indiana and southwestern Ohio. Charlie Gillman has grown the company to such an extent that they’ve recently ranked among the nation’s 100 largest pro-oriented construction supply firms, employing more than 200 people.
“To be selected as a Top Gun is a high honor, and we’re excited to celebrate the accomplishments of Charlie Gillman,” said Bob Cutter, NRHA President and CEO. “Charlie has earned this through his steadfast devotion to his customers, employees and the industry.”
Gillman Do it Best Home Centers is backed by the strength of its status as a member-owner of Do it Best Corp., a U.S.-based hardware, lumber and building materials co-op with thousands of independently owned locations in the United States and more than 50 other countries.
