Earl R. Smith, 77, Edinburgh, died at his residence Monday, November 21, 2005.

Born September 4, 1934 in Decatur County, he was the son of Rexford H. Smith and Florence (Holzhausen) Smith.

He married Hildreth L. Harvey Smith February 19, 1970 and she survives.

He was a graduate of Burney High School and attended Purdue University for three years. He was a member of Edinburgh Apostolic Tabernacle where he taught computer technology and was an usher. He retired from the Indiana Public Employees Association and was a member of the Farm Bureau. He was also a licensed minister through the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ through Columbus. He was employed for 26 years as an engineering assistant through the Indiana Department of Highways retiring in 1987.

He is survived by his wife, brothers Edward D. (Ruth) Smith of Greensburg and Dr. Evrett (Marilyn) Smith of Marion; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place at the Edinburgh Apostolic Tabernacle, 701 S. Main Street, Edinburgh from 4-8 p.m. Friday, November 25, and from noon until the time of services on November 26. Funeral services will take place November 26 at Edinburgh Apostolic Tabernacle at 1 p.m. with Rev. Mark Myers officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh.
