Mabel E. (Baker) Tarplee, 84 of Greensburg, Indiana passed away on March 29, 2007 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg.

She was born on July 1, 1922 to Cecil E. and Carrie E. (Ponsler) Baker in Westport, Indiana.

She was a 1940 Graduate of Clarksburg High School and a graduate of Columbus School of Nursing, receiving her L.P. N. license in 1972. She was married to Pike E. Tarplee on January 9, 1942 in Kingston, Indiana. She was a member of the Greensburg United Methodist Church, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Lois Chapter #147 and a Past Worthy Matron, Martha Station, the Ladies Auxiliary, the V.F.W. and the United Methodist Women.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda (Gary) Grote of Connersville and Iris (Bob) Ramp of St. Paul; two sons, John E. (Sherril) Tarplee of St. Paul and David (Joni) Tarplee of North Palm Beach, Fla.; sister, Iris (Floyd) Deiwert of Greensburg; seven grandchildren, Jason and Justin Grote, Kim Wallace, Lacey Korywchak, Spencer, Meredith, and Shane Tarplee and three great-grandchildren, Matthew, and Benjamin Grote, and Claire Wallace.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Pike E. Tarplee in 1991; three brothers, Dale, Maurice, and Mervin Baker and three grandchildren.

Services will be Monday, April 2 at 10:30 a.m. at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home in Greensburg, Indiana with Rev. Charles Wilfong officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, April 1 from 3-7 p.m.
