Children danced to music and shook their home-made noisemakers as they eagerly waited for the big event at the Terre Haute Children’s Museum New Year’s Noon event Friday.

Kickoff for the football season is only a month away, and area teams are in preparation mode. Greensburg hosted Brown County in a scrimmage Thursday. Under the guidance of Scott Moore, the Pirates are coming off a 6-5 campaign. The 2021 season is set to begin Aug. 20.

Greensburg's girls basketball team hosted summer scrimmage games Friday, June 11. The Pirates lost to Charlestown and Martinsville, although none of their varsity players from last season played that day. GCHS coach Jason Simpson said his roster next season will be very young. 

Approximately 70 children in grades 1-8 participated in the Greensburg youth tennis camp last week. The campers were introduced to the basic skills of tennis while also participating in some friendly competitions. All campers received a T-shirt thanks to sponsors.

Three hundred ninety-nine teams were drawn Sunday night and placed into brackets for the 111th Annual IHSAA Boys Basketball State Tournament.

Two of the most explosive scorers in South Decatur basketball history are currently teammates. They were honored before Tuesday's home against North Decatur.
