Sandcreek Baptist Church

The sanctuary has been prepared for Advent season. We had a wonderful meal and fellowship following our Hanging of the Greens service on Sunday. Now, we hope you'll join us for any/all upcoming events. If not at Sandcreek, then find a church of your choice, and attend Sunday worship. This is the season to be a part of a church family and have fellowship with friends.

Next Sunday, during our traditional 10 a.m. service, the deacons will serve communion. After the service, we'll hold our business meeting. Please plan to attend and give your support/opinions to any of our upcoming projects.

The Faith Singers will practice at 9 a.m., Dec. 3.

Pastor Bob will be in the office on Wednesday and Thursday mornings; you can find us on the web anytime at www.sandcreekbaptistchurch.com. Our informal Sunday-evening service continues at 6 p.m.

Although it's cold and rainy, I'm sure you can find a church that's warm and friendly. That's what you'll find at Sandcreek Baptist, located on U.S. 421 South. If you drive past during evening hours, look for our lighted nativity overlooking the parking lot.

First Baptist Church

The First Baptist Church of Greensburg will hold its 2011 Christmas cantata, entitled "A Song in the Air," at 7 p.m., Dec. 10, at the church.

The event will start with a handbell prelude and then segue into a congregational carol of "Joy to the World." The cantata will be performed by a 35-member choir, with narration by First Baptist members Gary Chambers and Thelma Zandstra.

First Baptist members Samantha Wilcox and Brittany Crabill will give solo performances, and the First Baptist Praise Team will perform a Worship Set; the children's choir will perform, too.

Cookies and traditional Christmas wassail will be served afterward.

Free tickets are available at Greensburg's Huntington Jewelers, Rainbow Books and Gifts, and Something's Perkin'. Tickets are also available at the church office, by calling 663-3778.

Greensburg Wesleyan Church

Gospel recording artist Lindsay Huggins will bring her Christmas tour to Greensburg at 10:30 a.m., Dec. 4, at Greensburg Wesleyan Church, located at 634 West Main Street.

Huggins, an award-winning soloist, will perform classic Christmas favorites such as "Mary, Did You Know?," "O Holy Night," "Winter Wonderland" and "What Child Is This." The concert will also feature new songs from Huggins' latest CD release, titled "Christmas."

Having grown up in a musical family, Huggins always knew she wanted to pursue a career in music.

"I began singing in church as a small child, but I have a feeling I was born singing and just never stopped!" she said.

She was in church every time the doors were open and knew at a young age that her vocal talent was a gift from God.

In 2002, Huggins moved from her hometown in Georgia to Nashville, Tenn. to attend Trevecca Nazarene University. She now makes her home in the Nashville area with her husband, Craig.

This special time of music and celebration will be free to the public. A free-will love offering will be received.
