AG DAY AT THE FAIRGROUNDS

Fifth-grade students from Good Shepherd Christian Academy, St. Mary’s, North Decatur, South Decatur and Greensburg Elementary schools all took part in the Decatur County Soil & Water Conservation District Ag Day at the Decatur County Fairgrounds Tuesday. Aided by Decatur County FFA members, educators from all five schools and countless volunteers from community businesses and service organizations, the youngsters spent the day learning about livestock, horses, fire safety, soil makeup, and even building a better (plant-based) burger. “Despite all our technological advances, we owe our very existence to the top six inches of soil and the fact that it rains,” said Greensburg High School ag teacher Greg Schneider.
