Switzerland County - Late Monday afternoon, Indiana State Police made an arrest in connection with the bomb threats and bank robbery that occurred Jan.18. Robert Lee Buchanan, 44 was arrested at his home near East Enterprise. He is accused of making bomb threats to two school corporations forcing the evacuations of five schools in two counties and then robbing the Main Source Bank in East Enterprise.

Tonight Buchanan, who was arrested without incident, is being held in the Switzerland County Jail in Vevay, IN. He has been charged with the following crimes in Switzerland County: Robbery With a Deadly Weapon, a Class B Felony, Criminal Confinement With a Deadly Weapon, a Class B Felony, Theft, a Class D Felony, Intimidation With a Deadly Weapon, a Class C Felony and False Reporting-Bomb Threat (3 counts), a Class D Felony.

Additional charges as they relate to the bomb threats made to the Rising Sun/Ohio County schools will likely be filed early next week in Ohio County.

This arrest was the result of a very extensive investigation involving the efforts and cooperation of many law enforcement agencies. Agencies involved include the Indiana State Police, Rising Sun and Vevay Police Departments, Ohio and Switzerland County Sheriff’s Departments, and the Kentucky State Police.
