BAD CRASH

Tuesday afternoon, the Letts Fire Department was dispatched with Decatur County EMS, Westport Fire Department, Greensburg Fire Department, Westport Police Department, Decatur County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police to a two vehicle accident in the area of Layton Drive and CR 1100 S. The accident was located at the entrance to the Westport dam. One patient was transported by Letts medics to the Decatur County Memorial Hospital helipad and transferred to IU Lifeline medical helicopter for transport to an Indianapolis trauma center. A second patient was transport by Letts medics to Greensburg Municipal Airport and transferred to a second IU Lifeline medical helicopter for transport to an Indianapolis trauma center. Decatur County medics treated a third patient on scene and transferred that patient to a third Statflight medical helicopter that was landed at the scene. That patient was also transported to Indianapolis for trauma services. The driver of the other vehicle involved was uninjured. Decatur County communications handled all the 911 calls, fire, EMS, law enforcement radio traffic and medical helicopter response. Sweet’s Towing took care of the vehicle recovery.
