Several relatively clean-shaven REMC linemen, Assistant Chief Deputy Sherrif Ray, and Greensburg Mayor Dan Manus gathered Friday in the REMC meeting room for donuts, coffee and friendly banter, all to honor the American Cancer Society’s “No Shave November” and raise awareness about male cancers. Director of Community Development for the American Cancer Society Amy Kinker spoke of the previous four year’s Battle of the Beards competitions, thanking the Greensburg Police Department, REMC office staff and the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department deputies for participating. “You’ve all been wonderful in raising awareness of men’s health and the American Cancer Society in previous years and we appreciate your participation again this year. As you grow your beards, you can tell people why you’re doing it, and when you shave them off, again, you can tell people that you do it to bring awareness to men’s health.” Awards will be presented for “Best Beard” and “Power Grower” when the contest concludes in December.
