GREENSBURG – The sixth annual Charger Car and Truck Show and Rummage Sale is set for Saturday (May 11) at North Decatur Elementary School.
The annual fundraiser is scheduled to run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
There will be a large rummage sale in the NDES cafeteria, while numerous cars, trucks, and tractors sit in front of the school. Numerous local families donated items for the sale, and several NDES teachers worked to coordinate efforts for the fundraiser.
From 1 to 2 p.m., customers can fill a big and pay only $2.
All funds raised by the rummage sale and car show will be put to good use.
“The money from both events stays with the PTO and we use that money to pay for a field trip for each student, to purchase materials for our students and staff, after school programs, and family events,” said PTO Vice President Amanda Caudill.
NDES teacher Dave Sell has coordinated the car and truck show for years, combining his passion for automobiles with that of helping his students and school.
This year, the car show will have judging in the categories of “Classic Car and Truck, pre 1973,” “Modern Car and Truck, post 1973,” “Best Chevy,” “Best Mopar,” “Best Ford,” and “Best GM.” Sell said the highest award are the “Best in Show,” though the North Decatur students in attendance will vote on a “Kids’ Choice Award.”
“The judges will have a tough time judging all of these beautiful vehicles,” Sell said.
Registration for the car and truck show is $20 per vehicle. Sell said tractors are also included in the show and invited anyone with a vehicle they would like to show off to attend.
Dash plaques will be given to the first 50 vehicles to register.
“If you own a car, truck, or tractor that you would love to show and support our PTO and all the great work they do for our school, please consider coming to the NDES Charger Car and Truck Show,” Sell said.
