PIRATE PARK DESIGNERS

PIRATE PARK DESIGNERS

Mrs. Harmon’s 4th grade class at Greensburg Elementary School recently completed a PBL project where they created designs for Pirate Park located by the Decatur County Library. The students participated in a learning experience where they designed a layout for the new soccer fields. This experience gave students the opportunity to learn and apply skills through exploration, and develop a deeper knowledge of real world challenges and problems. Over the course of a month, Mrs. Harmon’s Class learned important math skills that assisted in the planning and design of the soccer fields. For their final presentation, they created a digital display that showed their audience ways to enhance the space and make it usable for the community. Mayor Dan Manus, Tom Hunter, GCS Superintendent, Tammy Williams, GCS Curriculum Coordinator, Josh Hudnall, DCSC Board President, Robert Barker, Decatur County Parks and Rec Superintendent, Ron Mays, City Engineer, Bill Corya, Excavator, Mary Beth Meyer, GES Intermediate Principal, and Brian Robbins, EDC Director, made up the panel of individuals who heard the students’ presentations.
