SOUTH’S FIRST GRADUATING CLASS MET

Seventy-nine students from the South Decatur High School Class of 1969 met at Hampton Inn and Suites in Greensburg for their 50th reunion. As previously reported in the Daily News, the SDHS Class of ‘69 was the first class to graduate from the newly constructed South Decatur High School. The $1.7 million school was built in 1968 on the west side of Indiana 3 in southern Decatur County. The opening of the facility involved combining three entire student bodies, nearly 700 students, from Sandcreek, Jackson and Burney townships. According to Roberta Larison Kroger, a member of the class who served as a door greeter at the reunion, the evening included a catered meal. “It was so nice to see everyone who came, and I think it was a very fun event,” Kroger said.
