Dave Stults, President of the Board of Directors for the Decatur County Community Foundation, announces the appointment of Tami Wenning as the new executive director for the Foundation. Wenning, a Decatur County native, was selected from a field of nineteen applicants and replaces Deb Locke who left the position in March. Stults said in making the announcement that he was extremely pleased that Wenning agreed to take over what “is an important role in this community.” He continued, “Tami takes this position as the Foundation approaches a milestone in its history. The year 2017 will mark the 25th anniversary of the Foundation for which the Board of Directors will be making extensive plans, including the creation of a three year plan involving an analysis of community needs and issues.”

Mrs. Wenning joins the Foundation after a 15 year career in public service in several offices in the Decatur County Courthouse. Her leaving the Courthouse will mean a big change in her life, but Tami said, “I am very, very happy to be allowed to serve in this new role.” She will continue to work with the people of Decatur County, which is what she loved about serving in the Courthouse. Tami is also well known for her work at the Greensburg Daily News where she wrote articles titled “Southern Exposure” with news from the Southern part of the county.

“Wenning has demonstrated an impressive ability to learn about and adapt to new positions throughout her career. She will certainly need to acclimate to the work of the Foundation. However, as people centered as she is, Tami should have little problem adjusting to that part of the job. People who place their money and trust with the Foundation want to know that the executive director is approachable and willing to listen to their questions about how the Foundation operates. They also want to be assured that their dreams for the purposes they have chosen for their “investments” are being fulfilled,” Stults said. “Tami will undoubtedly be able to do those things that are important to our donors.” In addition, Mrs. Wenning is looking forward to doing the technical aspects of the position, which include working with the Board, staff and committee members to conduct the business of the Foundation.

A wife and mother of two (Jason and Danielle), she resides with her family in the Southern part of the county. Mrs. Wenning will officially start in new her position on July 14. She will, however, be working in the Foundation office starting June 16 as she becomes familiar with her new duties and fulfills commitments she made that are outside of her work responsibilities.
