GREENSBURG — Junior High students at North Decatur Jr.-Sr. High School recently competed in the Indiana Academic Super Bowl, Junior Division.

A total of 15 teams took part in the competition, with North Decatur facing off against five teams in their division.

The topic for this year’s contest was Ancient Egypt and the Nile Valley. Students studied materials related to the subject matter in the areas of Math, Science, Social Studies, English, and Interdisciplinary, which involves a bit of everything.

The math team, which consisted of Savanna Abrams, Mason Dimett, Kaleb Phelps, Ty Pratt, Robert Rogers, and Blaine Wagner, finished first at the competition and fourth in the state.

The Charger Science Academic Team, which also placed first at the competition, includes Cameron Bocanegra, Ellis Loehmer, Philomenia Niese, Ty Pratt, Robert Rogers, and Eric Williamson.

The English team, Hannah Allan, Hannah Baltus, Alana Osborn, and Blaine Wagner, finished in second place.

Braydon Lee, Ty Litmer, Jordan Redelman, Clare Spreckelson, and Evan Yoder are the members of the social studies team.

The interdisciplinary team consisted of Hannah Allen, Ellis Loehmer, Alana Osborn, Ty Pratt Jordan Redelman, Robert Rogers, and Blaine Wagner. They finished the competition in third place.

“These students performed incredibly well and placed in the top three in four out of five categories,” said NDHS English Teacher Abby Hellmich.
