Semmie B. Johnson, 99 of Sharpsville, Indiana passed away at 4:48 p.m. on August 18, 2008 at the Tipton Hospital.

She was born on March 18, 1909 in Clay County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Jasper L. and Louisa C. (Vaughan) Moore. She married George B. Johnson on March 27, 1926 in Whitleyville, Indiana. He preceded her in death on November 29, 1997.

She moved to the Sharpsville area from Greensburg and has been there since 1972. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Sharpsville United Methodist Church, the Friendship Circle and United Methodist Women’s Organization.

She is survived by nine children, Bedford J. (Evelyn) Johnson of Sharpsville, Deloris (James, deceased) Tays of Greensburg, James (Brenda) Johnson of West Morlan, Tenn., Rosie (James, deceased) Clayton of Clarksville, Tenn., Lester (Linda) Johnson of Greensburg, Charlie (Karen) Johnson of Columbus, Harlie (Mary) Johnson of Sheridan, Anna (Ron) Wilson of Noblesville, Linda (Kenneth) Edmondson of Stillwater, Okla.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Elmer and Jack Johnson; five grandchildren; three brothers and five sisters.

Calling will be from 3 - 5 p.m. and from 7 - 9 p.m. on Thursday, August 21 at the Sharpsville United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 22 at the church with Rev. Richard E. Lyth officiating. Burial will be in the Sharpsville Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in lieu of flowers to the Sharpsville United Methodist Church.

Arrangements were entrusted with the Boyer Funeral Home in Sharpsville, Indiana.
