Both Greensburg junior high cross country teams placed sixth at the South Dearborn Invitational Saturday morning. The Lady Pirates were led by Kasey Moeller with a 12th place finish out of a field of 74 girls. She ran her personal best in a time of 12:59. Peyton Buening led the boys team and earned the runner up medal with his 2nd place finish out of 81 runners. He completed the 3K course in a time of 10:57, his career personal best.
Personal Records were shattered Saturday morning in Dearborn County. All the participants improved their times for this season. Shanda Workman improved the most as she decreased her time by over six minutes from her race on Thursday after recovering from an injury that has kept her sidelined most of the season. Nathan Emsweller and Bryna Ferrara also had big improvements by dropping almost 3 minutes from their previous bests, and Keegan McCullough joined Buening by running his career personal best in a time of 13:17.
Another big highlight of the weekend were the individuals that qualified for State. Reid, McClintic and McCullough joined previous qualifiers Buening, Logan Moody, Jared Hasselbring, and Tanner Carman by racing the 3K race in less than 13:30. Shanda Workman and Mary Kate Porter have also qualified with teammates Moeller and Cara Zeigler by running in less than 14:30.
