Lady Pirates tennis season wraps with busy week

GREENSBURG -- The past week for the Greensburg Lady Pirates tennis program has been a whirlwind.

No. 1 singles player Raegan Rigney participated on Saturday in the IHSAA individual regional round on Saturday, following a full week of youth Pirates tennis camp.

Rigney ended up one win short of making it to the individual State finals.

She defeated Heritage Hills in the morning match 6-1, 6-1 before losing to a very tough Silver Creek opponent 0-6, 3-6.

Raegan won this morning and was the better player against Carly Sabelhaus, but Anna Graves, from Silver Creek is very solid and deserving of the win in the afternoon match.

Rigney finished her season with a 23-3 record, MVP of the EIAC and made the All-District team.

The aforementioned camp, had 78 participants in total from three different age groups and was made possible by sponsors First Federal and Levenstein Abbey Carpet.

The Lady Pirates also held their end of season awards banquet following their 17-3 season record and sectional title winning campaign.

Award winners were: Claudia Westhafer, all-conference; Aliyah Evans, all-conference and Most Improved Player; Raegan Rigney, all-conference, all-district, and MVP.
