The Greensburg wrestlers traveled to Delta High School for the Delta Super 6 Tourney. Greensburg went 4-1 for the day, but got off to a sluggish start against their first opponent Greenwood. The bout ended in a tie, 34-34, with Greenwood winning by criteria—four falls to Greensburg’s three falls.

“We wrestled like zombies in the first round. It was a disappointing loss, considering we could have and should have won several matches that we didn’t,” Coach Jesse Wallace noted.

Greensburg bounced back defeating Fort Wayne North Side 59-15 in Round 2, and fought back from a deficit to beat Adams Central 39-36. The Pirates went on to defeat Delta 57-24 and in the final round held on to beat Jay County 32-31.

“After getting off to a slow start, we finished stronger, capturing some key victories from our younger wrestlers. It definitely was not our best day of wrestling, but everyone is improving and we still have a lot of wrestling left in the season,” Wallace added.

After the weekend, Michael Pittman improved to 15-0 at 145 pounds. Trygve Henrikson’s record grew to 14-1 at the 171 and Bobby Scudder improved to 14-0 at 215.

The Greensburg wrestlers travel to East Central at 6:30 p.m. today.
