In the first semifinal of the Rising Sun Sectional, South Decatur faced off against Oldenburg Academy. A flat start to Games 1 and 2 doomed the Lady Cougars as the Lady Twisters advanced 25-10, 25-10, 27-25.

“Had we played the entire match the way we played Game 3, things would have been much different,” South head coach Kelly Jameson noted.

South had game point in the third game, but a line call went against the Lady Cougars and Oldenburg was able to move on and take the match in three games.

For the Lady Cougars, Liz Mauer served 12-12 and received 41-50.

Kirsten Baltus served 8-8 and added five kills.

Megan Johannigman served four points and was 16-20 at net with four kills.

Jamie Huff served two points and passed 47-55.

“We used Jamie as the libero for the tournament, which is really what kept us in game three,” Coach Jameson added.

Emily Wilkerson set 50-50 with nine assists and hit 7-8 with two kills.

Julie French set 33-33 with nine assists and hit 12-14 with one kill.

Heather Helms hit 11-13 with three kills.
